Kampala, Uganda — The 2026 Corporate Run has officially been launched, with organizers calling on corporates, individuals and well-wishers to come together and raise 5,000 Mama Kits to support expectant mothers in under-resourced health facilities across Uganda.
The fourth edition of the Corporate Run, organized under the theme of workplace wellness and maternal healthcare, was launched in Kampala with expectant mothers from St. Luke’s Health Centre in Biina, Mutungo, among those attending the event.
The initiative seeks to turn corporate participation and public support into tangible assistance for mothers preparing to give birth, with each Mama Kit costing UGX 30,000.
Running to Save Lives
Speaking to corporates and the media during the launch, Ian Rumanyika, Chairman of Corporate Games Uganda, said this year’s campaign aims to raise even more Mama Kits to ensure that pregnant mothers have the basic supplies they need when giving birth.
Rumanyika said his personal experience of losing a friend while giving birth inspired him to introduce corporate runs as a way of supporting expectant mothers.
«“Seeing a friend lose her life while giving birth was one of the reasons I introduced corporate runs to cater for expectant mothers,” Rumanyika said.»
He urged companies and individuals to participate in the campaign, emphasizing that the run is about more than fitness or competition.
The 2026 campaign carries the message “Purpose Over Pace”, encouraging participants to focus on the lives they can impact rather than personal race times or social media recognition.
Expectant Mothers Call for More Support
For Acheing Rhoda, the need for Mama Kits is a reality faced by many mothers, particularly those who may not have prepared for pregnancy or cannot afford the required supplies.
“I will run, I will run because most of the mothers above 24 years usually have to come with their Mama Kits,” Rhoda said, while calling for greater support for expectant mothers.
She also appealed to the government and other stakeholders to strengthen support for mothers who may find themselves facing unexpected pregnancies and cannot afford the items required for delivery.
“Responsibility Starts With Us”
Janet Navvuga, founder of Journey to the Boardroom, also rallied individuals and organizations to support the initiative, describing maternal support as a shared responsibility.
“As mothers, we need Mama Kits because all of us are who we are because of our mothers. We don’t need to wait for government; responsibility starts with us,” Navvuga said.
She called on individuals to come forward and contribute to initiatives that directly support mothers and improve maternal healthcare.
5,000 Mama Kits Target
The Corporate Run 2026 aims to raise and distribute 5,000 complete, sterile Mama Kits to under-resourced health facilities across Uganda.
Organizers say every UGX 30,000 kit purchased directly contributes to providing a complete Mama Kit for a mother preparing to give birth.
The campaign is therefore challenging workplace teams, human resource departments, corporate executives and individual runners to participate in large numbers.
Corporate Run 2026
The Corporate Run 2026, now in its fourth edition, will take place on:

- Start time: 6:00 AM
- Venue: NEC Pitch, Bugolobi, Kampala
